Teachers’ Training is the Need of the Hour in Schools - We Have the Reasons

Our society has given teachers the utmost place and respect. They are an integral part of the education system, but the future of our children depends on them. Despite giving them a higher place, schools often don’t take the teacher training part seriously. Learning is a continuous process, and this applies to teachers as well. Let’s look at the importance of teacher training, and how they can make a huge difference to the output of your educational institution.

The Need for Teachers’ Training

Teachers who have recently entered the profession can get immensely benefited by training. First-timers might not be confident about handling students. They might be knowledgeable, but lack of experience in expressing the concepts and confidence in leading the classroom can overshadow the personality.

Teaching is more than giving lectures in class. Teachers need to have effective class management skills so that students pay attention to whatever is being explained in class, the environment is good, and teachers can establish a better rapport with students. Workshops that are specifically based on class management can make a huge impact.

Studies have proved that students show more interest in class if teachers who are good at class management. The end result is a better outcome.

Categories in Teachers’ Training

Usually, there are two categories in teachers’ training:

Category One

The training covers the coursework that is assigned to students. Methods, content and psychology are the touch-points of the training. Many school book publishers in India are nowadays coming up with technology-oriented books, and teachers are made aware of such interesting books that can help them educate students better.

Category Two

The second category covers wide practical learning and modelling aspects. Teachers are taught different types of interactive learning practices that can be used to generate interest of students and explain the concepts in a simple way.

Final Words

Teachers training is not just required when new teachers join in. It is the process of continuous evolution and something that must be held at regular intervals. A teacher teaches the student what he/she learns in the training. Every school must pay attention to having workshops and training sessions for their teachers at regular intervals. These will not only make the teachers more confident but can play a positive role in increasing the number of admissions and lowering the attrition rate.
